Powertrain Rockford Inc is Hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist Near Loves Park, IL

What to expect: All WPG products and goods will be inspected to ensure they conform to customer and/or WPG print specifications and processing instructions. These products and goods will include purchased components from foreign and/or domestic sources. These products and goodwill include but are not limited to castings, forgings, assemblies, parts, and/or components that are machined completely or in various stages of machining or assembly

  • Responsible for incoming, in-process, and final inspection of WPG, Customer, and Supplier parts and products
  • First piece validation and PPAP/ISIR inspection
  • Be able to read and understand blueprints and GT&D tolerances
  • Participate in gage R&R and capability studies
  • Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor or QA Engineer Line Inspection results to include but are not limited to handwritten entries into vendor and/or customer hard files, non-conforming material reports, material move tickets, and all other assorted forms used by the quality department
  • Document inspection results to include but not limited to handwritten entries into vendor and/or customer hand files, non-conforming material reports, material move tickets, and all other assorted forms used by the quality department.
  • Document inspection results to include by not limited to electronic utilization, entries, and extraction of data and information using a PC with Windows-based software and other specialty-based software systems used by the quality department.
  • Ensure proper care, condition, and storage of handheld measuring instruments, test equipment, and computer-generated inspection devices.
  • Must be able to perform all of the job duties called out in the Quality Assurance Inspector classification
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area and environment
  • Must have a working knowledge and show the ability to be able to use the following measuring devices:
  • All types of calipers, micrometers, rulers, test indicators, electronic bore devices and linear height gages, hardness testers, ultrasonic inspection, magnaflux, comparators, and surface finish checkers, operate coordinate measuring machines, perform chemical testing and evaluation
  • All Quality Specialist must pass CMM testing – After 80 hours of coordinate measuring machine (CMM) training an individual must be able to demonstrate with repeatable accuracy, thoroughness, and in a timely manner the basic inspection principles of geometric dimension and tolerances in order to continue their advancement on the CMM
  • Inspect, calibrate, adjust, repair, and overall maintain the serviceable condition of all assigned adjustable, and non-adjustable measuring devices, hard gauging, pressure, electronic, and torque test equipment used in the process of manufacturing and testing of WPG products per manufacturer’s operating instructions and specified accuracy standards for each measuring device.
  • Maintain all required and appropriate gage and test equipment certification and calibration documents and test records per WPG work instructions and ISO standards by means of manual hand entries into the WPG computer data collection and information systems or by hand annotated WPG gage and test equipment forms.
  • Collect and retrieve company, personally owned, lost, damaged, and past due calibration devices and test equipment from the shop floor on a random or scheduled basis.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and secure work area in order to ensure calibration accuracy, proper handling, and storage of measuring devices and test equipment along with all tool crib perishable items.
  • Handle and record inventory, check-in/out tool crib perishable items, production, shop tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and test equipment that are dispensed to all WPG employees by means of entering into WPG’s data collection and information system or by hand annotated WPG tool crib, gage and equipment forms.
